So we know Nintendo has the market cornered on Wii brain trainers, and walking trainers, and games about collecting bells. But what is there for us, the hardcore gamers? What about the people that dabble in Mario, but want nothing more than to ignore that bell business, kill that obnoxious Tom Nook and take his loot?
Last week I had a chance to preview Nintendo's upcoming Wii lineup at the company's fall media summit. And while the new DS and the handheld platform's strong lineup dominated the news, I was more interested in what Nintendo was showing off on the Wii. After all, my Wii has been dormant for months. I wanted to know whether I should expect four more months of the same, or some real change from Nintendo's platform. Read more »

Sure, there's also Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa and Kung Fu Panda, but here are screenshots from games you might actually want to play (apologies to our eight year old visitors).
Call of Duty: World at War (PC, PS3, X360)
It was during a turret sequence, as the repetitive sound of the gun cycled for what seemed like minutes, that I had the familiar thought: "Maybe we really don't need another World War II shooter right now."
I have always dismissed the usual complaints of World War II oversaturation. After all, without more games based on The War, we wouldn't have something like Company of Heroes. Who cares what the setting is, as long as the game is solid? Read more »
Activision has released a new Call of Duty: World at War (PC, PS3, X360, Wii) video, offering nearly five minutes of co-op gameplay footage from the World War 2 action game sequel. The video shows the action from two different perspectives, and also features the sultry tones of Kiefer Sutherland who voices one of the main characters in the game.
Activision today announced Treyarch's Call of Duty: World at War will feature vehicles in its multiplayer modes.
Tanks were given as an example of the vehicles. The game will also include flamethrowers and flame tanks.

New screenshots released today from Treyarch's upcoming shooter Call of Duty: World at War present a variety of environments not yet seen in the World War II game.
World at War will allow players to control both a US marine in the Pacific theater and a Russian soldier on the Eastern Front. Under construction by Call of Duty 3 developers Treyarch, the game is said to follow in the mold Call of Duty 4, with many of the same features--including an experience-based multiplayer mode--set to appear. While I've always enjoyed a good Call of Duty campaign, Infinity Ward's fourth entry really stood out for its wide variety of missions. Escaping a capsizing ship, sneaking through Chernobyl for a quick assassination, or hovering above the battlefield in an AC130 gunship--the game was constantly varying the environments and the scenarios, keeping things fresh in an otherwise stagnant format.
So the most encouraging thing I can say about Call of Duty: World at War is that, according to a Treyarch representative, this formula will continue in full. Though we're back in World War II, there will still be Ghillie Suit-style setpieces, in addition to two vastly different battlefields; players will control both a US marine in the Pacific theater and a Russian soldier on the Eastern Front. "The team is polishing and pouring love into [Call of Duty: World at War]," Treyarch senior producer Noah Heller told Videogamer. "But that's the real difference between this game and Call of Duty 3. It's the time to actually iterate and get things right, to make things feel right." Read more »
