This weekend, Microsoft is offering a cooling salve, in the form of free access, so you can join those with disposable income in watching movies and hearing preteens shout racist epithets at you for stealing their kill.

When we heard that the Uprising for Black Ops 2 would feature mob movie icons fighting zombies in Alcatraz prison, that it would be paying homage to mafia classics. With a new trailer, Activision is showing just how on-the-nose the so-called "Mob of the Dead" can be with its referential cheek.

So you've bought Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 for $60 and paid $50 for the map packs for but you still want to spend more money on it, what do you do? This being the Internet, you pay $2 to wrap guns in bacon. From today, Activision is rolling out microtransactions for little bits and pieces in Cod Blops 2, including extra slots and storage space and cosmetic items like extra Calling Cards and, yes, bacon skins for weapons.

This year's Call of Duty game is expected to fall short of the lofty sales figures of Black Ops 2. While little is known about Call of Duty 10, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg told investors today that the game will be shipping Q4 this year, meaning the franchise has not missed a single year since its debut in 2003.

To tie 2012 up all nice with a bow before burying it in the woods out back, Microsoft has revealed the most popular Xbox Live, Xbox Live Arcade, Xbox Live Indie Games, and Games for Windows Live titles from that dead year, dead dead dead dead. Unsurprisingly, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 was the most-played Live game, while, you've guessed it, Minecraft topped XBLA.

Huzzah! In case that extra $50 you had in your wallet was weighing you down, you'll finally be able to cast away such burden by buying a DLC season pass for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
Whereas Xbox 360 players have been enjoying Nuketown Zombies for over a month already, PS3 and PC players will finally be able to download the bonus map next week, January 17th, Activision announced on Twitter. This bonus map comes in addition to the four other DLC map packs you can pre-pay for with the season pass.

The previously-leaked details for Black Ops 2's first DLC pack have now been confirmed. Activision has officially announced the "Revolution" add-on, which adds four new multiplayer maps, one new zombie map, a new zombie game mode, and a new weapon.
As expected, the add-on will be available first on Xbox 360: $14.99 on January 29. Other platforms will follow at "a later date," which usually ends up being about a month.
