In a surprising move today, Infinity Ward creative chief Robert Bowling announced that he was resigning from his post on the Call of Duty franchise and leaving Activision. No explanation was given on what he had planned or where he was going.
"Today, I resign from my position as Creative Strategist of Call of Duty, as a lead of Infinity Ward, and as an employee of Activision," he tweeted to his 367K followers.

A California State Superior Court judge has dismissed one of the two fraud claims raised by former Infinity Ward heads Jason West and Vince Zampella, in their suit against Activision. The two alleged that Activision had made commitments that the company executives never intended to honor.

A court date for Jason West and Vincent Zampella's claim against publisher Activision back in 2010 has finally been set. On May 7, 2012, proceedings will begin to determine whether or not Activision owes the Infinity Ward co-founders significant funds resulting from the sales of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. In the suit, West and Zampella allege fraud on Activision's part, and that their former employer owes them somewhere in the neighborhood of $125 million in royalties.

This weekend, MLG will be broadcasting its 2010 Pro Circuit finals from Dallas, Texas. The events will be streamed for free at MLGPro.com, though an enhanced HD stream is available for $10.

[Update - 4:30PM] Though it will not be added to the Greatest Hits library, Sony has dropped the price of ModNation Racers to $39.99 on the PS3 and to $19.99 on the PSP.

Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg officially threw a gauntlet at Sony's feet with a tweet asserting that Halo 3 has officially outsold six PlayStation 3 excluside titles combined.

Halo 3 is now available digitally for your Xbox 360 in all regions. It'll run you $30 in the US. There might be, however, a small issue with load times.
When the Xbox 360 received the "New Xbox Experience" Dashboard update allowing gamers to install their titles to the hard drive to improve load times, it actually made Halo 3 perform worse than when running off of the disk. Read more »

As promised, Microsoft today opened "the new virtual home for all things Halo" on Xbox 360 in the form of a free downloadable application dubbed "Halo Waypoint."
Waypoint allows players to track their progress through various Halo titles, as well as keep up with the latest news and videos. The program also rewards users with unlockable Avatar goods, like a helmet, for earning certain in-game achievements. Read more »

While the decision to branch off from World War II PC shooters and create the Modern Warfare franchise seems a no-brainer in hindsight, developer Infinity Ward now says that its owner Activision was against the idea from the start, deeming the idea "risky" and requesting more games set in the 1940s.
"With Call of Duty 2, we were dead set against it being World War 2," said Infinity Ward chief Vince Zampella to Official PlayStation Magazine, according to CVG. Read more »

Update: Publisher Activision has indeed announced today that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be released for the Wii on November 10.
While owners of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will have the new Modern Warfare 2 to chew on this season, Wii gamers will at least have a chance to play the previous title in the series, as Kotaku reports that a port of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is headed to the Wii. Read more »

It sounds like Peter Jackson's Halo game has joined his attempt at a Halo-branded feature film in the "no longer happening" graveyard.
When asked about the effort, announced in September 2006, the Hollywood director responsible for Lord of the Rings and Dead Alive told Joystiq that the "Halo project is no longer happening, it sort of collapsed when the movie didn't end up happening." Read more »

Looking to satisfy the video sharing needs of the Halo 3 playerbase, Bungie is planning to soon roll out the public beta of its video-to-render service, which will allow players of the title to convert captured Halo 3 clips into computer-playable files.
Players that put game clips on their Bungie.net file share will be able to spend "Bungie Points" to convert the clips into standard video files. The service will provide two options: 640x360 WMV at "about 1Mbps," and 1280x720 WMV at 6Mbps. Read more »
