Like the original Borderlands before it, Borderlands 2 will have a number of lengthy DLC expansions. The first may be coming from The Workshop, developers of the recently-released PlayStation Move game, Sorcery.
Resumes from current and former employees of the developer indicate they are working on an expansion, currently named "Torgue"--the same name as one of the weapons manufacturers of Pandora.

Now that you've read Steve Watts' review of Borderlands 2, see what tips and tricks John Keefer has for those journeying to Pandora.
I have about 38 hours invested in Borderlands 2 on PC so far, and make no mistake: It is an investment. Every time I die, I'm paying that stupid Hyperion terminal my hard earned cash to resurrect me. You see, I'm not that great at first-person shooters, but there is something mesmerizing about Gearbox's latest sequel in the Mad-Max-style world of Pandora. I die and keep coming back for more.

The original Borderlands was something of a quirky surprise. It combined first-person shooter and dungeon-crawler RPG tropes into a unique blend. It may not have mastered either genre as well as their purest examples, but the combination was fresh enough to make it a bona fide hit. Now that the surprise has worn off, Borderlands 2 is gambling on subtle refinements to the formula instead of packing the same punch. Gearbox has made a game that is in every way superior to the original, but has some trouble escaping its core weaknesses.

Borderlands 2, then. That's Borderlands with a 2 on the end, right? If you're a bit hazy on what exactly the sequel adds, you'll want to check out a new seven-minute trailer which employs an eccentric moustachioed gentleman by the name of Sir Hammerlock to explain it all. I think he's an actor, really.

Knowing what you do about Gearbox and the DLC it released for the original Borderlands, would you be happy paying $30 in advance, sight unseen, for $40's worth of DLC for the sequel?

Borderlands 2 for PC will predictably come with fancy graphics effects not found in the console versions. Among them is support for Nvidia PhysX. Accompanying today's announcement that the GTX 660 Ti will include a free copy of the game is a brand new video showing off the various particle and cloth effects that will be available only with GTX cards. While these features have no gameplay ramifications, they are quite dramatic.
