Today's THQ/Steam sale features the 4A Games-developed survival horror shooter Metro 2033. Based on the novel of the same name by Dmitry Glukhovsky, Metro 2033 throws players into a post-apocalyptic Moscow where survival contending with terrifying beasts in order to scavenge for the most basic of supplies.

Prior to releasing the "Ranger Pack" DLC, Metro 2033 was patched to prepare for the content. Since then, users on the Xbox 360 have experienced issues with unlocking Achievements specific to the add-on. Although the issues were acknowledged on the game's official Twitter account on August 3, users continue to have problems with the accomplishment-based meta-game.

Hunters have a new challenge ahead of them as the first downloadable content for Metro 2033 is arriving August 3 on PC and Xbox 360.
First revealed in May 2010, the "Ranger Pack" adds two new weapons--the Heavy Automatic Shotgun and the Volt Driver--and new achievements. Read more »

Following through on its teases, developer 4A Games and publisher THQ have unveiled the first downloadable add-on for their post-apocalyptic horror shooter Metro 2033.
Dubbed the "Ranger Pack" and revealed via Facebook, the as-yet-unpriced add-on brings "new weapons, new achievements and the deadly 'Ranger Mode' game rules" along with a "Ranger Hardcore" mode that "adds an additional challenge as the HUD is totally removed, creating the most immersive Metro 2033 experience yet." The launch trailer is an old and somewhat stodgy video games tradition but great things can still come of the genre, such as this fine one for 4A Games' shooter Metro 2033.
Based upon the novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky, Metro 2033 explores above and below the ruined city of Moscow, deep in nuclear winter and inhabited by mutated horrors.
Metro 2033 hits PC and Xbox 360 today in North America, on Thursday in Europe. The PC edition boasts DirectX 11 support for smooth tessellation and depth of field effects. Read more »

4A Games and THQ are happy to announce that the upcoming post-apocalyptic shooter Metro 2033 has gone gold and is off to be manufactured for the masses. As such, the game will hit its March 16, 2010 release date on the PC and Xbox 360.

Valve Software's Steamworks suite will power all PC copies of 4A's post-apocalyptic shooter Metro 2033, Valve and publisher THQ announced today.
Steamworks will give provide "auto-updating, Steam Achievements, Steam support for in-game DLC, and more" while requiring Metro 2033 be played through Steam.
Based on the novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky, Metro 2033 is a moody shooter with RPG elements set in the subways and surface of a frozen post-apocalyptic Moscow. Read more »

Vowing that Metro 2033 "will boast the most advanced DX11 techniques yet seen," publisher THQ has issued several new DirectX 11-enabled PC screenshots of 4A's post-apocalyptic shooter as proof of its bold claim.
"Gamers with DX11 cards will experience advanced Depth of Field effects as well as Full Tessellation on character models," said THQ of the PC release, which hits alongside the Xbox 360 version come March 16 in North America and March 19 for Europe. Read more »

4A Games' post-apocalyptic shooter Metro 2033 (PC, Xbox 360) will hit North American shops on March 16 and those in Europe come March 19, publisher THQ revealed this morning.
The company also pulled back the curtain on a Limited Edition, which includes an exclusive in-game weapon ("the formidable automatic shotgun") and four "art cards" by Russian painter Anton Grechk. What remains of Moscow after 2013's global apocalypse is on display in the latest screenshots from developer 4A's upcoming survival shooter Metro 2033.
Of course, it's what you don't see in these shots that you really need to worry about. For example, the mutants that lurk in the tunnels just beyond the limits of your underground city. Or the "terrible impending threat" that requires you travel to "the heart of the Metro system" in a "desperate mission" to "warn the remnants of mankind." Read more »

THQ has announced it will publish Ukrainian developer 4A Games' post-apocalyptic shooter Metro 2033, celebrating with a handful of new screenshots and a trailer.
Metro 2033 was first revealed in 2006, then described as a "horror/action/survival FPS" with RPG elements and scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2008.
