The UK Electronic Arts forums have a post by Battlefield 2 producer Armando "Aj" Marini, outlining some of the changes being worked into the next Battlefield 2 patch. Some of the upcoming changes include
- Helicopter now carry 8 missiles rather than 14 - Hit points on all air vehicles has been reduced - AA missile lock has been improved - Support kits have had their primary weapons adjusted for accuracy - Sniper kits have had their primary weapons adjusted for accuracy - Anti-Tank kits have had their primary weapons adjusted for accuracy - Players can no longer jump and shoot at the same time - "Prone Spamming" is now fixed - "Sprint exploit" is now fixed - Reload while sprinting has been enabled - Chinese and MEC APCs can now shoot through penetrable materials - Medic defibrillator paddles have been adjusted. They now reload while not in use.

According to the latest community update on the official Battlefield 2 website, a new update for the game is in the works. Though there are no details or projected release date, the news item mentions that EA is "listening to our customer support teams and working hard on the features that YOU'VE asked for". A new Battlefield 2 Mod Editor is on the way too.

If you're having problems with the EA Downloader and Battlefield 2: Special Forces a fix is now available. Unfortunately it is not a download, it requires you contacting EA Support who then get back to you with how to fix it.

As expected, the Battlefield 2 v1.12 patch is now available through FileShack. The 281mb update ensures compatibility between the original game and the Special Forces add-on, and also fixes a few bugs
BUG FIXES - Fixed a crash when users switch weapons using the mouse wheel while piloting a bomber (SU-34, F-15 and J10) in core BF2 maps. - Removed the Grappling Hook and the Zip Line from kits from "The Iron Gator" map. - Fixed single player loading screens to match map selection image. - Fixed an issue in the menus so that users can click on BF2:SF ribbons to view the descriptions. - Fixed an issue in the Browser so that BF2:SF servers are now represented with a green "2" icon. - Global improvement of collision detection on the Grappling Hook and the Zip Line. - Fixed damage state artillery icon on the 3d map when an artillery is destroyed.

In a surprising move, EA has made the Special Forces expansion pack for Battlefield 2 available through online distribution. For $29.99 you will be able to pre-load the add-on through an EA Downloader, and the game will unlock November 22 at noon Central Time. Looks like EA wants to see if Valve is really on to something.

Topics include servers running a mix of regular and SF maps, shooting your weapon while being on a zip line, fixing the damn friendly showing up as enemy bug, the map variety, the biggest new features and improved world interaction.
