The "Games on Demand" section of Microsoft's digital distribution platform Games for Windows Live "will soon be the home of day-and-date game releases from the industry's biggest names," the company declared today.
Alongside the day-and-date releases, which kicked off today with Ubisoft's Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands PC, the company will be adding more games to the online catalog, including those that don't utilize Games for Windows Live functionality. Read more »

Killzone 3 had its first showing and Garnett got to play it along with this week's guest, former 1UP Yours man on the wheels of steel Andrew Pfister from G4TV.com. The latest entry in the acrobatic action-adventure series Prince of Persia heads out to retailers this week--a theatrical film based on the franchise, though not this particular entry, follows May 28--so maker Ubisoft has released a new trailer to celebrate.
Dubbed "The Forgotten Sands" and set between the events of "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" and "Prince of Peria: Warrior Within," the game is due on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS and Wii come May 18 in North America / May 21 in Europe. Read more »

Those that pre-order Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands in PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 form via retailer GameStop will be rewarded with "exclusive content," publisher Ubisoft revealed in the form of a Facebook post noticed by Destructoid.
The exclusive mode, "Forgotten Arena," sees players of the acrobatic action-adventure battling waves of ever-increasing foes and regaining health between rounds. Those that pre-order the game online will receive the code needed to unlock the content in the form of an e-mail, those that pre-order in store should find that code printed on their receipt. Looking to "breathe new life" into Chess, TopWare and Zuxxez today unveiled a "progressive title [aimed] at developing a unique fusion between vivid 3D environments & characters, professional chess software and upbeat combat visuals & mechanics."

A "first-look gameplay video" of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands has arrived from Ubisoft, offering an in-game look at the impending acrobatic action-adventure.
According to Ubisoft, all versions of the game--PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS and PSP--are slated to hit on May 18, just before the film hits theaters. However, various retailers are still listing the PC version for a later release on June 1. Read more »

Having vowed that the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands would offer "a different gaming experience" than Wii, Nintendo DS and PSP, publisher Ubisoft today provided a few new details on the Wii action game.
In particular, the Wii version has been crafted "entirely from the ground up" by Ubisoft Quebec City and apparently "utilizes the full graphical capabilities of the Wii" in addition to "unique controls and capabilities" across its estimated fifteen hour run time. Read more »
