Shacknews Daily: Apr 03, 2012 - Batman DLC, Amazon video on PS3

Shacknews Daily: Apr 03, 2012 - Batman DLC, Amazon video on PS3

In a response to a Better Business Bureau complaint, Capcom says of Street Fighter x Tekken DLC being on the disc already that there's 'no distinction' between that and a full download other than delivery mechanism. It's probably time to start calling this content something other than "downloadable" then. Newly found trophies for the PS3 point to more story content coming our way for Batman: Arkham City. It also sounds like Robin may make it out of the challenge maps and out on his own for some of the extra adventuring. And the PlayStation 3 got a nice addition to its entertainment options today with Amazon's instant video service hitting the console complete with access for Amazon Prime members to 17,000+ free to stream shows and movies.

Batman: Arkham City makes 'fantastic use' of Wii U controller

Little is known about the Wii U version of Batman: Arkham City. In fact, all we know is that it exists.

There are those that know much more about the game, however. For example, Epic Games' Mark Rein has seen the game running on Nintendo's next console. Speaking at Game Developers Conference, Rein noted that the Unreal Engine-powered game won't be a straight port of the PC/PS3/Xbox 360 game.

Batman: Arkham City dev tried adding multiplayer

Batman: Arkham City dev tried adding multiplayer

Batman: Arkham City is a great game, earning the 3rd spot on our Game of the Year list. But would it have been a better game had it featured a multiplayer component?

Game director Sefton Hill argued that it would have seriously diminished the game. "If we did multiplayer then we wouldn't have been able to deliver the quality of game that people wanted--that we wanted," he said. "We would end up delivering two watered down products."

Best of 2011 Runner-Up: Batman Arkham City

Best of 2011 Runner-Up: Batman Arkham City

Batman: Arkham Asylum impressed audiences by bucking the trend of licensed superhero games. It wasn't just "good for a superhero game"; it was an unqualified success, both critically and commercially. Years later, developer Rocksteady had the unenviable (and inevitable) task of creating a sequel. They attempted to craft a game that could expand the concept of Arkham Asylum without compromising its original vision, and in many ways Batman: Arkham City does just that.

The dark days of dire DirectX 11 performance in Batman: Arkham City on PC are at an end, thanks to a new patch. Unless you're running a 32-bit version of Windows 7 or Vista, that is, in which case developer Rocksteady suggests you continue to avoid DX 11 entirely until another patch is released.
