Arma 3 developer Bohemia is planning to release an early slice of its battlefield sim to the public after E3 in June, so we rabble can offer our oh-so-wise insights. Project lead Daniel Musil explained, "Ours is a large and complex game - being developed by a relatively small team - so we really appreciate your opinions, thoughts and feedback."

Eagle-eyed Arma 3 fans recently spotted that the official site of Bohemia Interactive's battlefield simulator was listing a Q4 2012 release, not the summer launch the developer had initially stated. However, Shacknews has been told this was its target "for some time," and that we'll see open-world RTS reboot Carrier Command: Gaea Mission released before Arma 3.

Bohemia Interactive has thrown open the doors on the Arma 3 Web site, and included the lengthy walkthrough from Gamescom 2011. The site boasts details on classes and screenshots along with the video feed. We only got about a minute of gameplay in action with the E3 trailer, but altogether the walkthrough videos show off almost 15 minutes of gameplay

The war-torn streets of Bohemia Interactive's upcoming shooter Arma 3 have been teased as featuring a more "open-ended" single-player campaign with "sandbox" elements; more details of which have been outlined. In an interview with Everyeye (via Blues News), Bohemia designer Ivan Buchta revealed that players can earn "quests" that relate to the game's main story, or opt to explore "side-quests" for better intel, gear, support, vehicles and more.
"Your main objective may be to destroy an enemy base, because a friendly force is threatened by the enemy presence. By following some hints, you may eventually get a local guerrilla chieftain to distract the OPFOR in order to weaken its defenses or receive some close air support, all of which can make your effort much easier," Buchta noted. "Maybe you would even stumble upon a piece of Intel which would make the friendly command reconsider their intent." Read more »

The announcement of Arma 3 in May left shooty realism fans clamouring to see the battlefield simulator in motion, and now developer Bohemia Interactive has kindly obliged. While the E3 trailer is short, it certainly is sweet.

Yesterday, developer Bohemia Interactive announced it will continue the Arma series (A.K.A. Armed Assault) with Arma 3, coming exclusively to the PC in 2012.
With the announcement out of the way--and a few screens thrown out to whet appetite for the title--Bohemia has revealed the game's system requirements [via PC Gamer]. At first glance the requirements look to command a military-grade computer upgrade; however, we're confident that the hardest of the hardcore will likely be able to answer the call to jump into the next installment of the highly advanced series. War is serious business, and it's nice to have Bohemia Interactive remind us of that. The Czech developer today announced a new entry in its realism-heavy battlefield simulation series Arma, for release on PC in summer 2012.
Arma 3 will take players to a sunny Mediterranean island, where apparently there's a "well-guarded military secret" to be seized. As well as an "open-ended and story-driven" single-player campaign, Arma 3 will offer co-op and competitive multiplayer modes. There'll also be the ubiquitous mission editor. Read more »
