APB creator and Grand Theft Auto designer David Jones has been reunited with his malformed baby, signing up with Reload Productions to work on the free-to-play APB Reloaded.

In the game, players take on the role of a security specialist named Adam Jensen, who after a brutal attack from an enemy force, is outfitted with newly-designed augmentations in order to ensure his survival.

It appears that, for the most part, the rumors were true: Today, Reloaded Productions Inc., a whollyowned subsidiary of publisher GamersFirst, announced it has acquired "all the Intellectual Property Rights" to RealTime Worlds' cops versus criminals MMORPG, APB: All Points Bulletin.

According to the press release announcing the acquisition, GamersFirst revealed it plans to re-launch the franchise in "the first half of 2011" as APB: Reloaded--a free-to-play, Unreal Engine 3-powered title, developed by Reloaded Productions Inc. Read more »

While rumours have been swirling about APB being bought by one company or another since developer Realtime Worlds folded, GamesIndustry.biz is confident in its sources saying that the cops vs. robbers MMORPG has been bought by K2 Network, owner of the free-to-play MMO publisher GamersFirst.

The site's sources claim that K2 has paid around £1.5 million (roughly $2.4 million US) for APB and that it could be back up and running before the end of the year. Supposedly, the purchase will be officially announced in the coming week. Read more »

Though Realtime Worlds has been gutted and has been in bankruptcy administration, recent "patch" notes (via Massively) for its shuttered game APB declared:

"It's looking like there might be light at the end of the tunnel for APB. The end of the administration process is apparently close and there appears to be a buyer for the game." Read more »

Now that APB has shut down following the collapse of Realtime Worlds, customers that purchased the game or additional playtime and items might feel justified in seeking a refund.

The firm administrating the shut down of Realtime Worlds says (via Eurogamer), "customers should revert to the entity from which they bought the game in respect of their entitlement to any refund." Hugely troubled Scottish developer Realtime Worlds has announced that its cops vs. robbers MMO APB is shutting down, less than three months after it launched.

"Today we are sad to announce that despite everyone's best efforts to keep the service running, APB is coming to a close," community officer Ben Bateman wrote on the official APB site, urging that "The servers are still up, so join the party and say goodbye!" Read more »
