Angry Birds Toons is a brand new animated series launching on the weekend of March 16th. The series plans on answering the tough questions like "what makes Bomb Bird so angry" and "why is the King Pig the King Pig?"

Angry Birds adds Green Day characters and levels

Green Day has invaded yet another video game phenomenon. The band will be featured in a new episode of Angry Birds Friends, the Facebook version of Rovio's bird-launching game. The episode will add ten new themed levels, as well as new pig characters inspired by band members. It's perfect for fans who have always dreamed about launching birds at evil pig versions of the American Idiot group.

The Angry Birds zeitgeist has reached another milestone, as the series has crossed a whopping one billion downloads. Just last November Rovio was celebrating half a billion downloads. At least some of the credit for doubling that number in only six months has to go to the newest entry, Angry Birds Space.

Rovio rejected $2 billion Zynga acquisition offer

It should come as no surprise that Zynga is in the business of acquisitions, especially in the wake of the company paying roughly $200 million for Draw Something developer OMGPOP. I'll be the first to admit that I do not get the whole Angry Birds thing. As an old-school NES fan, I even bristled at the comparisons to Mario. But when gaming godfather Shigeru Miyamoto himself throws Rovio's hit a few compliments, it's hard not to take notice. When those compliments include wishing he had thought of it himself, it's harder still.

Rovio readies non-Angry Birds game; considers 3rd-party publishing

Rovio's Angry Birds series has made mountains of money, having expanded into animation and merchandising. However, the company is finally readying its next IP, one that won't feature the popular, petulant poultry.

So when can we expect it? CEO Mikael Hed said it is currently in production and "will be out in a couple of months."

KISS Angry Birds is becoming a thing

Gene Simmons and KISS are the poster children of the term "selling out." You need not look any further than KISS Hello Kitty, which apparently is a thing.

Apparently, Simmons and company are eager to return to games. But don't expect a sequel to the Dreamcast-era game, KISS Psycho Circus. It appears KISS will be collaborating with one of gaming's biggest brands--Angry Birds.
