Next Assassin's Creed Set in Rome, Packs 'Innovative Assassination Multiplayer'

As Ubisoft continues to slowly unveil new details on the multiplayer-enabled Assassin's Creed II follow-up due this year, the company offered a few new tidbits today.

"There has been a lot of excitement around the next installment of [the] Assassin's Creed franchise," Ubisoft CEO Yves Guilletmot told investors. "What we can say today is that it marks the return of the now legendary Ezio, but this time he will strike directly at the heart of the Templars order in Rome. In addition to this full new adventure, players will also be able to challenge their friends in a very innovative assassination multiplayer." Read more »

Ace Attorney DS Demo Available via Wii

North America may not get Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth (DS) until February 16, but that doesn't mean you have to wait until then to actually play it.

A brief demo of the latest in Capcom's court and crime adventure series is now available through the Wii's online Nintendo Channel. Of course, the demo's not playable on Wii--after it's downloaded, it must be wirelessly transferred to a Nintendo DS. Read more »

First Assassin's Creed 2 DLC Glimpsed in Trailer

As the first bit of Assassin's Creed 2 downlodable content hits PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 tomorrow, January 28, publisher Ubisoft has put out a new trailer for the add-on.

Dubbed Battle of Forli, the 320 Microsoft Point ($4) add-on brings with a new sequence involving the titular scuffle. A second add-on, Bonfire of the Vanities, is due in February, with the March 16-due PC release of Assassin's Creed 2 packing both add-ons. Read more »

Assassin's Creed 2 PC Release Date, System Requirements Unveiled

Initially due alongside its console brethren in November 2009, the belated PC edition of Assassin's Creed II is now slated to release on March 16, 2010 and will include the game's two downloadable add-ons, publisher Ubisoft revealed today.

Two versions of the game will be released on PC: a $59.99 standard edition and a $64.99 "Black Edition" that's exclusive to digital distribution outlets. Both editions will pack the Battle of Forli and Bonfire of the Vanities add-ons that console owners had to buy separately, with Black buyers also getting unspecified "additional content." First Assassin's Creed 2 DLC Due January 28

"The Battle of Forli," the first downloadable add-on for Assassin's Creed II, will hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on January 28, maker Ubisoft has tweeted.

Priced at 320 Microsoft Points ($4), "The Battle of Forli" add-on brings the titular scuffle into the historical action-adventure game. A second add-on, "Bonfire of the Vanities," is due in late February, packing more content and a new spring-jump move at $5. Read more »

New Assassin's Creed 'Episode' with Multiplayer, Another Driver Due Across Next Year

In addition to word that Splinter Cell: Conviction and R.U.S.E. have been delayed, the "sales target" update Ubisoft sent out today also contained word of new games.

Specifically, "Driver, Raving Rabbids 4 and a new episode of Assassin's Creed, which will be the first in the series to have an online multiplayer mode" are planned to arrive across the publisher's next fiscal year, which runs April 1, 2010 through March 31, 2011. Read more »

Phoenix Wright Sentenced to WiiWare Monday

Capcom sends word that intrepid attorney Phoenix Wright's very first adventure, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, will be available as a WiiWare download next Monday, January 11.

Originally released on the Game Boy Advance in Japan circa 2001 and re-released internationally with enhanced features on the Nintendo DS come 2005, the latest edition of the courtroom adventure utilizes the Wii's motion controls to "present evidence with the wave of the Wii remote or press suspicious testimonies by wiggling it." Assassin's Creed 2 Trailer Details DLC

After announcing two Assassin's Creed 2 downloadable content packs for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with nary a word of explanation, Ubisoft Montreal has put creative director Patrice Desilets in front of a camera to explain what we can explain from the pair.

'The Battle of Forli' arrives at the end of January, inserting Ezio into the historical battle to defend the city of Forli from the Orsi Family, while the end of February sees him learning a new "spring-jump" move as he foils book-burning monk Savonarola in 'Bonfire of the Vanities.' Reports floating around peg the packs at $3.99 and $4.99 respectively.

Assassin's Creed 2 Patch Hitting This Week

Fresh off word that two downloadable add-ons for Assassin's Creed II are due in early 2010, publisher Ubisoft had announced it will be patching both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the open-world action game this week.

Owners will be prompted to download the free PlayStation 3 update beginning today, December 8, with the Xbox 360 release available Friday, December 11, according to Ubisoft community coordinator kazzoo. Read more »

Assassin's Creed 2 DLC Packs Announced

Two downloadable add-ons for Ubisoft's Montreal's recently released murder-centeric open-world action game Assassin's Creed II are slated to arrive in the first two months of 2010, publisher Ubisoft revealed today in a mailing to the press.

The terse "media update" specified names and release months of the first two packs--"Battle of Forli" in January, "Bonfire of the Vanities" in February--with no word as to what each downloadble pack will bring with it and pricing simply listed as "TBA." Read more »

Ubisoft Launches 'Uplay' Achievement and Reward System with Assassin's Creed 2

Publisher Ubisoft today launched a new cross-platform online service dubbed Uplay, which will reward players for in-game actions and accomplishments among other functions.

The first game to take advantage of Uplay is Ubisoft Montreal's Assassin's Creed II, which just launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America today and arrives in European territories and shops come Friday.

Based on in-game actions, players earn "Uplay Win Units" that can be exchanged for "rewards such as exclusive in-game content or digital items." Assassin's Creed II rewards include the in-game Auditore Family Crypt and an Altair costume. Read more »

Assassin's Creed 2 Trailer: From Altair to Ezio

More Assassin's Creed 2 media has crept silently from the shadows and explains some differences between Ezio, the series' new protagonist, and his predecessor Altair.

Unlike Altair, who was trained by a cabal of assassins to be a professional killer, the new "hero" Ezio is described as a "man of the Renaissance" out for revenge. In other words, killing isn't just his day job.

Assassin's Creed 2 jumps out and shanks the PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 17, with the PC version to arrive in early 2010. Read more »
