Although PlayStation 3 users will have to wait until 2011 to see Sackboy return in LittleBigPlanet 2, the adorable character made its way to 3D Dot Game Heroes in a free update released yesterday.
The patch also adds an additional 50 player-made characters to the game from Atlus' "Hall of Heroes" character-sharing hub, fixes a number of game bugs, and allows players to bring weapons from previous saves into the inventory of new heroes using 3D Dot's New Game + feature. Read more »

Saying that I have a love-hate relationship with 3D Dot Game Heroes may not be entirely accurate--hate is a rather strong word, after all--but it isn't that far off, either.

As 3D Dot Game Heroes heads out to North American retailers today, publisher Atlus has launched an online hub for sharing and downloading custom-made characters.
Dubbed "Hall of Heroes," the webpage offers a centralized place to upload one's own in-game creations and download those of others. The actual character editor is located within the game itself, with the site offering detailed instructions on how to transfer said characters to and from the PlayStation 3. Read more »

Right from the beginning, right when you're picking your character, it's already clear that 3D Dot Game Heroes is something special.
You see, the kingdom of Dotnia needs a hero so badly that it'll take whatever it can get.
Oh sure, you can opt to be one of those traditional heroes, decked out in the old-school armor and such, but where's the fun in that? You can play the game as almost anything. You don't even have to be human. Read more »

3D Dot Game Heroes publisher Atlus today released a new batch of screenshots for From Software and Silicon Studios' "ultimate retro love letter," challenging viewers to "to put their gamer credentials on the line and figure out the games alluded to."
The pixellated action adventure pays homage to "the industry's golden era," according to Atlus, striving "to transport gamers to happy memories from their gaming childhood." Players can also put their pixel art skills to the test by creating their own character. Read more »

Retro-inspired PlayStation 3 action-RPG 3D Dot Games Heroes is "definitely" slated for a North American release, according to the official PlayStation Twitter.
