You guys had like four days to research and look up things before doing this podcast and yet you all still came into this without knowing so many things.
- The fact that no one brought up that Killzone and DriveClub were running off of 4 GB ram instead of 8 is ridiculous.
- The way Garnett seems to think that this is an E3 event when it was actually an investor and developer event makes him look immature. Just because you found the architecture and developer talk boring, it doesn't mean that the intended audience did.
- Garnett contradicts himself a few times, but the most noticeable was when they were all talking about being honest and showing proper footage but then he wants made up videos of games that obviously aren't ready to show.
- Guys, PAX, E3, GDC, Gamescom and TGS are coming, the have so many venues throughout the year to announce new things and to go into greater detail on their features.
- Everyone thought this event would be a 20 minute announcement with a video reel and a tech demo, but instead it turns out to be so much more and yet the press act like there isn't enough. This is an announcement, its not a showcase, we were lucky to get as much info as we got.
- The fact that a PS3 or 360 can use 512MB of ram and still get close to matching a middle end PC is amazing after seven years, the PS4 is so much more powerful and yet everyone seems to think it won't do the same thing as every other console in the past. 8 GB of ram for a console means so much more than 8 GB for a PC.
I can go on and on, but I think I made my point. The gaming press has become far to skeptical about everything, they have become a hive mind that bases their wants and predictions around companies like Apple. I honestly believe that most of the press are getting close to 30 years of age, thinking of different things, having more responsibilities and so have less time for games, which then leads them to be more negative about the industry.
I've seen this with the PS3, every Nintendo console, the VITA and now the PS4. Microsoft doesn't catch as much flak, not really sure why considering they haven't lead in sales for three years, have and promote bad consumer practices, have had little to no creative games come out and obviously have taken a stance against gamers and have gone for a different market, which I guess is the market that a lot of the press has turned into.
