Justifying Games / End the Game Shame

The discussion of Reckoning and maturity was bizarre to say the least. I am curious as to why the panel (i.e. Jeff and Garnett) feels the need to justify their gaming tastes on a level of maturity. Can't we just have fun? I also feel the term "video gamey" as a derogatory term to be frankly insulting. We like to play games, lets just call them games. It seems as because they/you grew up with games having to justify gaming to their parents and now that their older, that justification need is still there for no real reason.
