I have to admit that I really wasn't looking forward to this weeks netcast especially after last weeks round table of the the nonsensical lead by Andrea. I actually wanted Brian back so that there would be some logic in the circle.

Andy was dead on about Nintendo. Jeff, your statement as to not wanting PS3 games to be marketed to your nephew floored me. And don't try to spin it because your statement was a blanket one. So let me get this straight. You don't want your niece and nephew to be marketed LBP, Journey, or The Last Gardian? Sony publishes more first party titles than Nintendo and Microsoft combined and you want your niece and nephew to be marked to by Nintendo? Nintendo and Microsoft are more similar in the sense that they cater to the extreme opposites of the spectrum and rarely grow beyond that while Sony offers something for everybody. From my own personal experience, I've learned my lesson with the Gamecube.

This past Christmas my wife and son wanted a Wii. I entertained the thought and asked her what games she wanted. She said she didn't know which games she wanted but she didn't want the Wii to be like the Gamecube. So I told her, "How about I get a Move bundle and two games (Heavy Rain and Mod Nation Racer) as a bonus I'll get Mario Kart DS. The grand total was well under the cost of a Wii. In the end, she never even touched the Move. Like the DS, I have to introduce games to her (CrossworDS, Hotel Dusk, Phoenix Wright, Ghost Trick, New Super Mario Bros, etc) . She like many Wii owners are driven by the hype machine and realize later that there is little substance behind their purchase. I have no interest in buying a Wii/U or any other Nintendo product because there is nothing there for me or my family that I can't get on the PS3 or PSP. The same goes for the Xbox 360 since I upgraded my rig.
The nostalgia for Nintendo and what they used to be in the 8 and 16 bit era is the same nostalgia that is blinding people about the Wii/U and the Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D rehash. IT THE SAME CRAP EVERY ITERATION!
