for all the good thing about valve to say i think that their pre-order beta as a glorified demo thing has been bullshit. specifically the tf2 beta was a bit of a joke in that regard. by doing this they pretty much killed quakewars and apparently the devs decided to stick to closed betas from now on.

given how quakewars was a real beta and tf2 wasn't i can see where they are coming from.
