Hope you guys read this. But I gotta say something. I've noticed this obsession with games journalists with having "gaming" being taken seriously. Let me just say what I think you all need to hear. Who cares! Some things are not for everyone. It doesn't belittle that form of human expression it just means some people don't appreciate it. That's bound to happen and its childish and immature to get upset about it. I know we all like games and that makes us nerds but why should we let what other people think change how we feel about something we like. This is a sophomoric behavior and those of that are adults and game should beyond this in our mental development to get so upset about what other people think. You enjoy it and you have friends you can share it with and that's all that matters. For example I like the extremely heavy side of metal I know its not for everyone and it doesn't bother me that some of my friends don't like it or even make fun of it. Furthermore a hobby can be become mainstream for two reasons. One it catches on and remains the same or two it becomes something else that is loosely based on the original form and has changed into something that is inherently different.. IE changing video games to "interactive entertainment." Then they aren't video games anymore. Personally I like video games and what they are in fact i think the newer generations have lost some of the charm because they have attempted to be more mainstream. Granted things change but do we really want our hobby to be fundamental altered so a few overly sensitive men in their 30s and 40s feel less insecure talking about their favorite hobby? Or do we want it to remain how we enjoy other people's hang ups on it be damned. Love you guys but man you need to get over the "video games are art/ should be mainstream" and just enjoy and discuss it as is.
Really hope you read this. Thanks.
