activision publishing has no good developers besides treyarch doing call of duty. every other studio is basically on the chopping block. activision really only cares about blizzard (online pc), treyarch (call of duty), and the new bungie agreement (rumored to be an MMO). with the exception of call of duty which is really the only console title left, the rest of the company is focused on developing online games. console gaming has already started the slow decline. this will be the second consecutive year of down console sales. wall street views console gaming as death and the market cap is all in online gaming. activision has been pressured by shareholders to dump as much of the legacy console biz as possible and move more into online games which carry a significantly higher operating profit margin. for example in the most recent quarter, blizzard has a 50% margin while the entire activision publishing division had a small loss. this is the reason why activision is shutting down bizarre creations. earlier they shuttered most of raven studios an a number of other smaller developers including those working on the all but dead guitar hero franchise.
