What's with game makers wanting to have fifty gazillion pre-orders for every game? Is it like a bargaining chip they can use to secure funding/distribution for their next title? It worries me that there is an increasing emphasis on pre-sale numbers than ACTUAL sales on and after the game is actually released... It's like they're afraid the game won't do well (or know it won't), so they hype it up and leverage pre-order numbers as if they were actual sales figures. Crazy.

    • Couple parts to the answer. First, there's physical inventory. Having a good forecast is always best so... : daggotThis person is cool!
    • Its easier to hype and promise than to actually deliver and get sales by the quality. : Johnnsen
