I never played the first one, but I did play the second one. Players said the second one was harder, but I found it horribly easy. The gameplay is good and all, but if it's similar to the second one, I could just as easily buy out all of the land, make a load of money on renting and buy out all of the stat potions to get all of the attacks/spells and steam roll through the game.
