Shack, im having some computer problems, so im requesting whatever assistance i can get!

So i was trying to work on some projects in photoshop and illustrator, but i seemed to be having some memory issues. I couldnt open up any files let alone some explorer windows. These were the only two programs I had open besides trillian. Anyway, so I tried resetting the computer, but then it started artifacting all over the screen!

Everytime I try to start up my computer i get this scary red screen:

Is it just coincidentally both a ram and video card issue? Or is something else like my motherboard fucked up?

Im running on a q6600 with an 8800 GTS, and 4gb of ram by g.skills or whatever.
