    One thing to keep in mind is that if you install the GOG versions you can further add the non-official community patches which fix a whole bunch of things that the official last-patches did not. If you buy from Steam I wouldn't have confidence that you could do this. I've put not only gameplay fixes but also high-resolution mods into my GOG Fallout 1 + 2. I don't think this can be done with Steam.
