Valve continues to amaze me in how much they listen to their customers. I would have never imagined that a company would consider outright scrapping a system like this they've put so much effort into, let alone admit it was a bad idea, and all within the game's lifetime.

I really, REALLY wish Robin Walker was working on Left 4 Dead.
