offtopic, and i am going to ramble: why is there no pay2play epic MMORPG based on realism?
whenever i play wow or other MMO's i catch myself daydreaming about a real-world, JUST post-rome MMO.
instead of 2 factions like every other MMO, there could be 5: Britons, Huns, Goths, Byzantines, and Muslims... the main forces that were present / brought on the fall of Rome.
it could be a map of europe scaled down to WoW size... and there could be a LIVE diplomacy based on the players needs. perhaps the muslims and byzantines have allied and are pillaging every germanic town in the countryside. so the goths call on the help of the britons to rescue them from the incoming muslim/byzantines. but the britons have to decide AS A PEOPLE with some sort of 2-week long voting event with different poll locations in all the villages and main cities.
also there should be the ability to literally create a character and NEVER go to war, work in the markets for money and sell merchandise to the soldiers and other merchants. (the incentive for this would be to make money for your soldier alt most likely)
each 'tribe' or 'people' whatever you want to call them would be created completely according to their historical style and would be different from each other in class type / playing style. english the masters of longbow and Huns strong with cavalry (did i mention the ability to fight on horseback and get dismounted)
anyways its a HUGE daydream but you can imagine the rest... i think itd be one hell of an interesting and fun game
