His quote does not imply the headline:

"a lot more active [Crysis] players than there were unit sales."

does not imply

"More Crysis Pirates Than Units Sold"

because "active Crysis players" includes both pirates and legitimate purchases. It implies there are a lot of pirates but not that there are more of them than legitimate purchases. (Assuming that the "extra patch downloads" are mainly pirates.)

(I'm not saying piracy is a non-issue. I don't think that at all.)
