How unusual is it for a married couple to live with a roommate(s)?

My fiancée and I are getting married in a month but we're still going to be sharing our apartment with our friend, mainly because we can't afford a place on our own. Well, we could but we would have to significantly downgrade the quality of home. The difference between paying half rent+utilities and paying all of it is kind of huge. You might even say double!
