After seeing these types of comments, I had to add my 2 cents. While pirating will always hurt sales, blatant ignorance hurts a lot more. There is a reason that such games like Half Life 2, Portal, WoW, Starcraft, Diablo 2, etc. continue to reap massive amounts of money. While I loved Crysis (I bought the $55 special edition) and also was a fan of Far Cry (built 2 computers, one for each game) you have to understand that the people who you are hoping will buy your games are always going to look for the easiest solution. Consoles are easy, as I have owned several consoles in the past, however I currently do not own either the PS3 or the Xbox 360. You must realize that for the millions of PC owners, probably 10% use these for gaming. Of those 10%, how many do you think are hardcore? This forum is not an accurate representation of our world. This website argueably represents the more intellectual, tech savy, non-ignorant population. The same cannot be said for all who play games. Sadly, 90% or more of the fellow people who occupy my highschool (I'm a senior) have never even thought of playing PC games. The reason for this is that most people don't even know how. While I have made it my argument for years that a gaming PC could be had for as little as $500, people still argue that it is too expensive etc. The problem here is ignorance, as the "average" gaming PC is obviously used for more than just gaming. What people fail to see is that while the majority of modern society owns at least one PC, little realize how easy it is to add a dedicated GPU. How often have you cringed at these words? "Shea right, I could never play "X" game on my computer, that would take like, a lot of RAM right!" The easiest way to solve this problem would be to inform gamers upon this topic, and make PC gaming into an easier, more user accessable platform. While Steam is certaintly a shining beacon of hope, one cannot rely upon this alone! Oh, and don't get me started about the Games For Windows bullshit! Isn't it obvious that a company such as Microsoft makes far more $$$ over their dictatorship with the Xbox 360 rather than using their "platform" for Windows? These people make profit off each and every game produced for their console due to licensing, and don't even get me started about Windows Live!
My 2 cents
