I would think that something along those lines are true. Microsoft would be stupid not to put out a Blu-ray player. As it stands now, anyone wanting a BR player is inclined to go with a PS3 as it is clearly the best available option. Regardless of whether they intend to play games on it or not, it raises PS3 unit sales, which looks good in the NDP charts and to stockholders. The only way to combat that is to hope someone releases a really good cheap BR player (unlikely for a while, Sony is able to sell PS3 cheaply because it makes back money on software; other companies can't do this), or come out with one themselves.
