I am sure SK's financial requests were intended to be over the top just to push the story farther into the spotlight.

Realistically, I'm willing to bet that SK just wants to get their money back for the licensing, and keep the modifications to the UE3 engine, no strings attached. I doubt they really want any of Epic's profits from Gears and seriously doubt that they'd receive a penny from those profits anyways.
