This guy has produced two franchises: the Battlecruiser 3030AD and Universal Combat. However, both of them are essentially based on Battlecruiser 3030AD, a game that was released in 1996. This guy has been flogging the same idea for over 10 years, and based on the reviews for each game, he actually seems to be getting worse with each new title.
Battlecruiser Millenium, Derek Smart's 4th title, garnered an average score of 68% on Metacritic (
http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/battlecruisermillennium?q=Battlecruiser ). His most recent titles, 2004's
Universal Combat and 2005's
Universal Combat: A World Apart (

I don't know much about Derek Smart, apart from what I read on Wiki and all the badmouthing that I see here on the Shack. So it's not like I have a personal vendetta against this guy -- these are the facts. Would I buy a game made by this guy, given the facts and all of the accusations I've heard about his behavior? Unlikely.
