DM-Ariza2k4
Author: bStrange
This map is a beautiful Unreal Tournament 2003 remake of Myscha the Sled Dog's classic DM-Ariza for Unreal. It plays well and has very good FPS and botpathing. If you liked playing the original, you will love this map and yes, you can get on the cliffs even without the translocator...jumpboots included :)

Many thanks to the DvT Clan deviants (www.dvts.org) who helped test this map and provided feedback in forums and my email, and for hosting it on their servers :) A very special thanks to the most beautiful Deviant of all DvT Deb, my wife for not divorcing me for neglect as I became obsessively absorbed with this map during it's creation. Special thanks to Myscha the Sled Dog for building the original and to Miles Asvachin who unknowingly supplied the jump boots :)
Enjoy the map!
Description :
This was one of my favorites from Unreal originally by Myscha the Sled Dog. I will eventually be remaking all of my favorites maps, as I prefer maps that showcase gameplay and flow rather than eye candy. This map gave me hours and hours of fun fragging in Unreal and I hope it does for you now in UT2K3 :) Yes! you can get on the cliffs like in the original and yes, that camera is taking live in game shots that are displayed on a monitor in the level :)
Changes from Beta:
- Gravity/fluid friction changed in fan chamber.
- Botpaths have been improved.
- Hole/passage down to super health in fan chamber widened.
- Upper shield and boxes on which it sat moved to end of the hallway. In the original Unreal version you had to jump from box to box to get to the shield, with the double jump of UT2k3, the shield could be picked up with ease and I wanted to add a slight degree of difficulty to attain.
- The slime room superhealth was showing up as a regular health on some remote systems, so it was changed to a superhealth generator
- One of the lightning guns has been removed. During beta test, the map with both guns was more or less a lightning gun arena or so it seemed :P
- Removed all additive brushes and replaced with static meshes (improved framerate slightly)
- Added antiportals (improved framerate slightly)
- Added animated level preview.
- Increased the size of the indent in the kill zone cylinder to allow 'slightly' easier access to the jump boots. Again in the original Ariza a very precise jump had to be made with the jumpboots to reach the cliffs, since the jump boots of 2k3 jump a bit higher and to mirror the difficulty of reaching the cliffs in the original, the difficulty now lies with obtaining the actual boots rather than in making the jump to the cliffs.
