ShackCast Ep. 18 - November 16, 2007 (Play, Download, iTunes, RSS, Digg)

ShackCast 18 starts off with some discussion of this week's news: upcoming Ghostbusters and Terminators games, the upcoming Kane and Lynch movie, downloadable Xbox games coming to Xbox 360, dates and prices for Rock Band downloadable content, and the just-announced spectator mode for Super Smash Bros. Brawl on Wii.

There are also substantial impressions of BioWare's Mass Effect (X360), Nintendo's Super Mario Galaxy (Wii), and Naughty Dog's Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (PS3), some goofier-than-usual reader mail, and a Jam Sessions contest song by Remo, with lyrics by Shacker AndyGoin.

Again, we were running very late and in the interests of expediency, we glossed over the breakdown this week. Curses!

ShackCast Ep. 17 - November 9, 2007 (Play, Download, iTunes, RSS, Digg)

Internally, this was our second take at ShackCast 17, our initial effort being something we would rather not foist upon our trusting public. We ended up discussing Bungie and it's purported original game in development, the Xbox 360's slight victory over PS3 for one week in Japan, Silent Hill's Akira Yamaoka work on a new game, the crappiness of collectors' editions, Mark Wahlberg as Max Payne, amazing Rock Band DLC, and controversies involving Take-Two Interactive and Hellgate: London.

That plus reader mail, what we've been playing, and a Remo song about Peggle from the perspective of Chris Faylor. Faylor's Peggle Song was part our Jam Sessions contest, and its lyrics were written by Shacker liqker.

Because we were running very late and in the interests of expediency, we glossed over the breakdown this week. Sorry!

ShackCast Ep. 16 - November 2, 2007 (Play, Download, iTunes, RSS, Digg)

The rather lengthy ShackCast Episode 16 includes discussion of the recently-released Crysis demo, Manhunt 2's ongoing controversy, the launch of Hellgate: London, the Thai Orange Box debacle, BioWare's not-actually-confirmed Star Wars MMO and Blizzard's might-be-Diablo 3 MMO, Will Wright's comments on the Wii and its version of Spore.

Listeners weight in with comments and questions on Soldier of Fortune Payback, Rock Band, why Gordon Freeman has no feet (and sometimes no hands), exclusive sports franchises, the moon, and more.

Finally, we've got two of Chris Remo's recordings of Shacker-written songs submitted to our Jam Sessions contest: Public Servers by KalLanta, and Gordon's Crowbar Blues by quadeh.

ShackCast Ep. 15 - October 26, 2007 (Play, Download, iTunes, RSS, Digg)

On Episode 15 of the ShackCast, Steve Gibson, Chris Remo, Nick Breckon, and Chris Faylor discuss an astounding variety of topics.

These subjects include Spore, Eye of Judgment, Ratchet & Clank Future, the rumored new Star Wars MMO, Samba de Amigo Wii, Soldier of Fortune 3, Hellgate: London, Jade Raymond at the grocery story, and more. We also branch out into the realm of visuals this week, supplying you, our gentle listener, with visual aides for the Impossible Creatures segment.

Unfortunately, in our rush to bring you the latest in Shack auditory entertainment, we neglected to sketch out the traditional timestamped breakdown. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience.

ShackCast Ep. 14 - October 19, 2007 (Play, Download, iTunes, RSS, Digg)

This rather meandering episode features hands-on impressions of Super Mario Galaxy, the upcoming Turok game, and the PC version of Guitar Hero III--including discussion of that game's bafflingly steep system requirements and recommendations.

There's also time spent on Tim Schafer and Double Fine's just-announced metal adventure Brutal Legend, as well as listener mail. All this is somehow wrapped up in a tenuous framework of terrible Highlander metaphor.

ShackCast Ep. 13 - October 12, 2007 (Play, Download, iTunes, RSS, Digg)

For this week's ShackCast, Remo spent some time hands-on with Super Smash Bros. Brawl and several of its new characters--Pit from Kid Icarus, Meta Knight from the Kirby series, the new Samus and her Zero Suit form, and the just-revealed Sonic the Hedgehog.

Nick was at Epic's offices checking out Unreal Tournament 3, which he feels is underrepresented by its recent demo. Carlos met with Sierra to check out several upcoming PC and Xbox Live Arcade downloadable games; some--such as Aces of the Galaxy and Commanders: Attack of the Genos--are promising, and some--Battlestar Galactica--are not.

Plus, all of us played through Portal and loved it, because it is lovely. Finally, we discuss Double Fine's new game announcement and Electronic Arts' acquisition of BioWare and Pandemic Studios.
