Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 Announced With a Kang

The Conqueror will be part of the time-travelling storyline.

It's been almost four years since we last had a look at the Lego Marvel Super Heroes doing battle in all their blocky goodness. Thank the stars that TT Games and Warner Bros. Interactive thought it was time for another one, announcing Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 for a November 14 release.

The plot in this one has the Marvel gang going up against time-traveling despot Kang the Conqueror, which makes it convenient to show off a bunch of different settings from various point in time. Ancient Egypt, The Old West, Sakaar and a 2099 version of New York City will al be used as mission backdrops. Some characters that will get play time are Cowboy Captain America from the past, Spider-Man 2099 from the future, and Thor, Hulk, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, and Green Goblin. And, yes, there will be plenty of others.

"With a completely original branching storyline, Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2  introduces amazing new gameplay features, including the ability for characters to manipulate time and a four-player competitive Super Hero battling mode,” TT Games Managing Director Tom Stone said in the obligatory prepared statement. “With a huge array of brand new characters from the Marvel Universe, including old favorites in new guises, this game is sure to thrill both LEGO and Marvel fans, as well as newcomers to the series.”

Check out a very teasing teaser below. Something a bit more substantial would have been nice, but the full trailer won't be here until May 23. With E3 just around the corner, we guess they didn't want to burn that footage too soon.

I don't think anyone was impressed with Avengers.... MSH was a vastly superior and fun Lego game that wasn't hamstrung by the movie licenses.

I love all the Lego games, but Lego Marvel was a step above the rest, with the possible exception of The Hobbit, which had more advanced combat going on in it. I'm glad that it's Marvel that's getting the next game.
