Shack's Arcade Corner: The House of the Dead 2

This week on Shack's Arcade Corner, we take a look at another arcade classic. The House of the Dead 2 is a first-person light gun shooter arcade game with a horror theme. House of the Dead 2 was known for really fun gameplay and hilariously bad voice acting. The boss battles were very detailed and rather awesome. There were three types of arcade cabinets including a seated cabinet with more immersive audio. The game was developed by Sega for video arcades in 1998 and later ported to the Dreamcast and Microsoft Windows. It can also be found on the Xbox as an unlockable bonus in The House of the Dead III. The game also appears in the compilation The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return for Wii. The Dreamcast version became one of the few Sega All Stars titles. There have also been several Typing of the Dead spinoffs of the game, but House of the Dead 2 remains our favorite.
