Gunfire Games Debuts Darksiders 3 Gameplay

Sound and fury signifying nothing? Not Darksiders 3's Fury!

4

Gunfire Games announced Darksiders 3 earlier this week following a leak that revealed Fury, Horsewoman of the Apocalypse. Today, the developer partnered with IGN to roll out a 12-minute gameplay trailer.

Described as "unpredictable and enigmatic," Fury is a pacifistic scholar who strives to stem the blood flow of the apocalypse by... No, I'm kidding. She's armed with a whip and is hellbent on confronting the Seven Deadly Sins. Probably not, like, the sins themselves, but corporeal manifestations with magic and weapons and stuff.

For those keeping score, Darksiders and its sequel let you play as War and Death, respectively. Fury is the third Horseman... Horseperson of the Apocalypse, leaving Strife available for a cameo in Darksiders 3 or its DLC—or, depending on how the three-quel performs when it releases, a leading role in a fourth title.

Pretty sure it's Gunfire Games that is making Darksiders 3

Yep, fixed. Sorry about that, Shack. A family emergency came up and I had one foot out the door.

This looks good to me. Many of the environments are suspiciously familiar from DS1, but no worries. As for the character & moveset, these also look good, as far as they go. Hopefully they can add more creative whip mechanics -- say to wrap around enemies and fling them, etc -- and some secondary projectile weapon. Can't wait to see if the voice-work and plot match up to DS1's standard: That's a high benchmark to meet.

This is early pre-alpha stuff so I'm not worried about any of that as I'm sure there's plenty of place holders at this point in the process. I just hope they asked Joe Mad to help as his artistic vision is what brought this game to life to me.

The game looks pretty enough, but the combat is boring.
