Xbox Games with Gold for May 2017 Will Use the Force

A pair of Star Wars games for free in celebration of the unofficial Star Wars Day. Plus, platforming action and ancient tombs.

There's nothing like a little thematic synergy, so Xbox's Games with Gold line-up for May pays tribute to the unofficial Star Wars Day, May 4. Both of the Xbox 360 games for the month, also playable on Xbox One, are set in a galaxy far, far away. First comes Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 from May 1-15, followed by Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga on May 16-31.

The two Xbox One exclusives for the month are less themed but pretty nice offerings. Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams - Director's Cut will run for the full month of May, and Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris will be available from May 16 to June 15.

As always, Games with Gold is available to all Gold subscribers. For the 360 games, once you've obtained a game through the service, it's yours forever even if you let your Gold subscription lapse.

For what it's worth this only applies to the 360 games, the Xbox One games only stick around as long as you pay. They changed the program between consoles.

So this is correct for the 360-based Star Wars titles above but not for the Xbox One games.

I'll def get the Lego Star Wars. TFU2, tho... the first was not exactly my most loved game, I doubt the second will be much better. Anyone else feel differently? I mean I may still download it just to have it since it's with my Gold sub but I doubt I'll ever play it.

FU2 is generally considered to be the weaker game of the two.
