Nintendo positioned Arms as a showcase title during its Switch reveal presentation back in January. It's a one-on-one fighting game where players use Joy-Cons to throw punches with their avatars' extendible arms. Picture a fighting game with a roster consisting purely of Dhalsim from Street Fighter 2 and you've got a firm grasp of Arms' premise.

Arms is a new property from Nintendo, so the jury's still out on its quality. On the other hand, Splatoon was embraced by critics and consumers upon its release on Wii U in 2015. Rather than a revamp a la Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2 is a proper sequel due out sometime this summer. Tonight's Direct could shed light on when to expect it, following the Splatoon 2 Testfire stress test last month.

Shacknews will be updating live during tonight's Nintendo Direct, so keep your eyes peeled for concrete details as soon as the event gets rolling at 6 p.m. ET / 3 p.m. PT. Meanwhile, sample what both games will offer via the reveal trailers below.
