The NBA 2K series is really good a recreating pro basketball, but it lacks the flair of a neighborhood game. With NBA Street and NBA Jam having gone the way of the dodo, the NBA was looking for another similar style game to lend its license to. Now we have NBA Playgrounds.

The game's rosters include all the current teams and players, as well as some retired ones. Since this will be more arcade than simulation, you can expect some crazy over the top moves and dunks to get a rise out of your fans and opponents. The game will have single-player and multiplayer modes, both local and online.

NBA Playgrounds is being developed by Saber Interactive, and CEO Matt Karch said it should be easy enough for anyone to pick up and play, but it still has "a lot of depth for hardcore pros who’ve mastered their game."

It will be available next month for $20 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Nintendo Switch
