Today, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts looks back on the year of 2016 to recognize the biggest achievements in gaming. Being one of the final award shows to celebrate the games of 2016, the BAFTA for the most part echoed the opinions and ideas of previous award ceremonies, with a few differences. Here are today's winners:

  • Audio Achievement - The Last Guardian
  • Evolving Game - Rocket League
  • Game Innovation - That Dragon, Cancer
  • Music - Virginia

  • Mobile Game - Pokemon GO
  • AMD Esports Audience Choice - Clash Royale

  • Best Game - Uncharted 4

The coveted award for Best Game went to Uncharted 4. The only other major outlet to grant Naughty Dog's PlayStation exlusive with the award was Empire Magazine, which is also based in the UK.

Indie games had a big night thanks to some heavy-hitters taking home big awards. Playdead's Inside took home four of the seven awards it was nominated for, and Firewatch won the award for Best Debut Game, and was also nominated for Best Game. After reaching such acclaim with their first title, we eagerly look forward to what developer Campo Santo is preparing as a follow-up. Finally, That Dragon, Cancer won the Game Innovation Award.
