An Expansion Pass is the only way to get exclusive in-game clothing, a new dungeon, and more.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be the first main-series Zelda game to offer downloadable content, Nintendo announced today. The DLC will be available for both the Nintendo Switch and Wii U versions of Breath of the Wild.

Starting at launch, players will be able to purchase an "Expansion Pass" for $19.99. That pass will give access to two sets of DLC as they become available. The first, available this sumer, is a Cave of Trials challenge, a new Hard Mode, and a feature for the in-game map. The second, set to launch in the holiday season, will add a new dungeon and another story. The packs won't be available for purchase individually.

Purchasing the expansion pass also grants a few goodies you can crack open immediately. Purchasers will find three treasure chests in the Great Plateau area. One contains an exclusive Nintendo Switch t-shirt for Link to wear, while the other two simply include "useful items."

“The world of Hyrule, which we created for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, is so large and vibrant that we wanted to offer more for players to experience within it,” said producer Eiji Aonuma, in a statement. “With this new Expansion Pass, we hope that fans will play, explore and enjoy the game even more.”
