Death Stranding Won't Have a Sequel Unless the Demand Is There, Kojima Says

The game also will not support VR, but players will have a lot of freedom.

Many eyes are focused on Hideo Kojima's upcoming Death Stranding, given his pedigree as a developer. So when he took to the stage for a talk at the RTX Sydney event, plenty of ears were listening as well.

The game will be open world and will offer players a great degree of freedom, Kojima said, according to DualShockers.  And while the game will be AAA in every sense of the word, he said that players will start to notice some differences once they have been playing for two or three hours. The dev team is currently working on game logic, while the rest of the year will be spent filling out the game world.

Death Stranding is set for release some time in 2018, but Kojima said he is not planning a sequel at this point, inless the demand is there. If he does create one, he said that he will probably change things up a bit, since keeping things the same would appease fans, but offer no progress for the team or the people that love the series.

Kojima said he chose Sony to publish the game despite many other offers because he is familair with the company and Sony offered total creative freedom. He also said that other companies may have flinched from showing Norman Reedus in the buff in the debut trailer, but Sony trusted his judgment.

And don't expect the game in VR any time soon, if at all, Kojima said. That is probably a good thing as Norman's derriere in virtual reality could be too much for some to handle.

The name he has made for himself opens a lot of doors, bu he asked fans to stay focused on the right things. “Don’t be concerned with me, please just love the things that I make,” Kojima said.
