Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Gets a Release Date

The PlayStation 4 remaster of Final Fantasy XII will be here sooner than we thought.

At today's Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Opening Ceremony, the release date of Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age was detailed. The PlayStation 4 Final Fantasy XII remaster will release in the U.S. on July 11 and in Japan on July 13.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age will add a host of improvements to the title, including high-definition visuals, remastered sounds, and newly-designed battle and job systems. The new Dolby 7.1 surround sound lets players choose to listen to the original Final Fantasy XII soundtrack, or a new remastered soundtrack according to their preference.

A couple of new game modes are being added for the release of Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age as well. Trial mode will let players face enemy after enemy in the attempt to win 100 consecutive battles. There is also a new "Speed Mode" being added, though details on what that mode entails aren't available yet. Completionists should also be excited about the new PlayStation Trophy support being added.

Final Fantasy XII is the target of mixed feelings for Final Fantasy series fans. Hopefully this new remaster will help eliminate some of the issues with the base game and make it an overall more enjoyable experience. You can purchase Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age for PlayStation 4 starting July 11, 2017.

Yussssss. Love FFXII. Kinda glad it isn't sooner though, I got a wall of games to get through between now and then. Good problem to have.

That would be a colossal package to put together. Not sure they would even try that with the games being spread across so many systems.

Unless I'm thinking of a different game, I think the original had inverted camera controls with no way to switch. I couldn't play it till it was available on an emulator and I was able to manually flip the axes.

Really hope such an obvious detail isn't overlooked in this remaster!

inverted is the way to be

They call it "inverted" implying that it's flipped from the way it was meant to be. So you're objectively wrong.

It was inverted horizontally, not vertically. Pushing the stick left made the camera pan right and vice versa.

oh that's weird. x-axis inverters are in the dimension with trackballers

Will this make it's way to Steam eventually? Have they hinted at the possibility?

I don't know if they've said, but it seems like all of the FF games have come to PC eventually.
