Rumor: Deus Ex: Mankind Divided dev now working on Guardians of the Galaxy game

In addition to Shadow of the Tomb Raider, of course.

After years of working on the Deus Ex franchise, it appears that developer Eidos is moving on from the series to two new games, if rumors are to be believed.

And one of those games is apparently a Guardians of the Galaxy game, sources have told Kotaku. The other is Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which was accidently leaked by someone working on a laptop in the subway, which Kotaku later confirmed. Eidos Montreal has already teamed up with Crystal Dynamix on an Avengers game for publisher Square Enix, so adding another Marvel property is not out of the question.

As for what will happen to the Deus Ex series, a statement released by Square said that it is "still working on expanding the Deus Ex Universe, along with creating new content and updates for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided." Indeed, a new piece of story DLC is coming next month, but sales for the game apparently were lackluster. Butwhat will happen to the expanded universe that Square had promised back in 2013 is a mystery.

And while moving on from the franchise, or at least delaying another entry, could be fiscally prudent, it would leave a few plot holes that may irritate fans hoping for some sort of resolution. Square apparently went "all in" on Mankind Divided, with a huge PR push and even cohosting a human augmentation conference last August, with Mankind Divided as a jumping off point for discussion.
