The Banner Saga 3 kicks off final crowdfunding campaign for the franchise

1 and 2 were highly successful, and it looks like 3 is following suit.

The final installment of the Banner Saga trilogy has kicked off its crowdfunding campaign and appears well on its way to reaching its goal only a few days after launch.

After the higly successful crowdfunding runs of the first two games, developer Stoic launched its Kickstarter a few days ago, seeking $200,000. The game has already raised $145,000, and there are still 40 days left to go.

The final game is meant to take the Nordic tale to its conclusion. :Steel your nerves, step forth into the approaching abyss. Cross the threshold from daylight without end into untold darkness. Warped lands within threaten your sanity, and a writhing wyrm tests your mettle. But here, in the darkness, is where secrets are brought to light and motives are made clear. Are your friends who they claim to be? They all look to you. What story will your banner tell?" Kind of nebulous, but you don't want to give away the whole plot upfront.

If you haven't played any of the games and you want to find out what the series is about, Stoic is offering the first two games for $20 added to any pledge for BS3. The different donation tiers above the basic game price also offer a variety of loot and in-game perks, depending on what you want in your game play.

Right now, Banner Saga 3 is planned for just PC and Mac, but Banner Saga 2 eventually made its way to PS4 and Xbox One last year
