EA's pre-E3 event, EA Play, will take place from June 10-12 in a new venue

EA Play will be live streamed so consumers can check out upcoming games from afar.

Five months out from E3, Electronic Arts set a date for EA Play, its pre-E3 showcase for upcoming games.

EA Play 2017 will take place from June 10-12. Last year's event was held just outside the LA Convention Center, home to E3; this year's showcase will emanate from the Hollywood Palladium, approximately half an hour away from the Convention Center.

The event will be streamed from EA.com for those unable to attend.

Following in the footsteps of publishers like Nintendo, EA jettisoned its floor space at E3 and launched EA Play as a way to communicate more directly with consumers and press. Last year's event was open to the public, whereas E3 is strictly for media and industry professionals.

Given that E3 is still so far off, EA hasn't announced what games it will highlight at EA Play.
