Nintendo's New York City Twitter account issued a tweet this afternoon announcing that the company's retail store will begin taking pre-orders for the Switch console this Friday.

"A limited quantity of pre-orders for the #NintendoSwitch will begin on 1/13 at 9AM while supplies last at #NintendoNYC."

Tomorrow night at 8:00 p.m. PT / 11:00 p.m. ET, Nintendo will livestream an event wherein it will announce a concrete release date and price for its Switch console/handheld platform, set to launch in March.

The company's announcement that pre-orders will be available at its NYC-based retail store could be an indication that other retailers will begin taking pre-orders Friday morning, just hours after the livestream event.

In addition to tomorrow night's livestream, Nintendo will broadcast footage of Treehouse staff playing games expected to launch alongside Switch all day on Friday.
