Dream on a while longer.

Media Molecule, known for its LittleBigPlanet series of platformers, posted a blog to announce that the beta for its PS4-exclusive title Dreams has been delayed until sometime next year.

"We are well on the way, and have had a really productive year," the developer wrote in a blog. "We have ticked off many big tasks including implementing a working rough cut of the full feature set, starting the QA/developer version of the trial and making good progress on the game campaign we are making within Dreams. The results we are getting in the studio are truly amazing but we have a bit more to do before we share it with the world."

Media Molecule announced Dreams at E3 2015. The developer promised to go into more detail on the game's progress in early 2017.

The development team envisions Dreams as a an extension of LittleBigPlanet's "play, create, share" mission statement—an amalgam of sculpting, drawing, animation, music and sound effects, storytelling, and game development.

Players control an imp as their conduit into the game world. Using the imp, they can interact with and create items and characters. Additionally, the imp can take possession of other characters, allowing players access to their unique items and abilities.

"And so though it means a bit of a delay to the beta trial, rest assured we are working as hard as ever! We are going to keep hunkering down, and will use the energy from you all to get through our work as quickly as possible!"
