Following the news that Brendan Iribe stepped down as Oculus CEO to lead Facebook's VR team, UploadVR asked a company spokesperson for word on whether or not Palmer Luckey will remain with the company.

"Palmer is still at Oculus and we’ll have more to share on his new role soon," the representative answered.

Palmer Luckey was the public face of Oculus and its Rift VR headset until last September, when The Daily Beast revealed his involvement with a propaganda group that supported Donald Trump's successful bid for the American presidency.

Luckey has been uncharacteristically silent on social media since the story broke, surfacing only to issue an apology—but not for the pro-Trump memes he helped propagate.

"I am deeply sorry that my actions are negatively impacting the perception of Oculus and its partners," he wrote in his statement. "The recent news stories about me do not accurately represent my views."

Despite his silence, Luckey does remain with Oculus, which he and other executives sold to Facebook for $2 billion in 2014.
