Visuals look good, I hope they learned something from Witcher about world building and quest design though. Mass effect always seemed on the rails and felt small for a "galaxy" of content, and will especially after Witcher. Combat seems fine. But why are the same races around if it's a whole new galaxy?

      • reply

I think they had the equivalent of racial arks sent out to the new galaxy.

Agreed. When I finally played Mass Effect 1 and 2 I felt that the series started strong but turned into cover-shooter-sci-fi instead of sci-fi-RPG and I dropped off really hard after 2 concluded. I'd love to see Bioware make a compelling RPG again.

Embroidered logo with some nice finishing touches. It's actually better than a lot expensive hoodies I've seen.

The oversized hood is maybe a little sillier, but the diagonal zipper is neat extra asymmetry on a jacket that is by design already asymmetrical.

I've had two now. They're nice sweaters and you don't look like a super gamer nerd wearing them. Bonus points for random people at the mall calling you Shepherd.

I've had mine for about 2 years and it's held up incredibly well, still looks good and a surprising amount of people recognize where it's from. Getting random "Shepard" or "Commander" while walking around is always funny.

The lip synching is incredibly off and the expressions don't at all match the "I'm trying to out-badass the badass badguy" tone of the dialogue/scene.

Huh. I'm not sure how I feel about this.

On the one hand, it's Mass Effect and the visuals are great.

On the other, everything else was...mediocre looking. The scanning thing was straight out of Arkham; been there done that. Resource gathering had a No Man's Sky vibe. Been there, done that, too. Powers looked good in action, but the enemies were bullet sponges. And the meeting with the shady bad guy character was cliché in all the worst ways.

And wtf was with those facial animations?

Am I weird for feeling slightly less enthused after seeing that video than before?

Yeah, it doesn't look like an improvement. Are we no longer rolling out as a squad? I didn't see any pause in the action to command a squadmate to use an ability.

Really? The graphics look stunning to me. Also a lot more verticality to the movement. Limitations of the engine for the early games meant a lot of flat level designs. Now we get jet packs and biotic leap powers.

Can't wait to try it! I like such kind of games. For gaming I use free VPN network (found info here https://www.bestvpnrating.com/vpnrating/best-vpns-gaming-2016 ). With its help I can play any geo-blocked games without any security risks. Gamers quite often become a soft target for cyberattacks. So it's better to use vpn network or proxy to protect our privacy.

That looked fucking fantastic! The stuff with the biotic powers was awesome. The visuals are stunning. The only thing that worried me was the lack of a party mechanic. All the combat was featured just the lead character.

      • reply
        December 2, 2016 7:40 AM

The party control stuff is there in the middle, underneath the shield/health arcs. You can see their portraits, and then additional cards/slots/whatever stacked underneath them. Odds are it's going to be more or less the same as the last two: point at target, hit modifier to select party or members, "attack my target" or "go there" or "use power" or etc.

Maybe more than one ship was sent in the past? Or maybe some people woke up before others. The dialogue did seem to indicate that human woman knew what a pathfinder was. There may have been more in the past.

              December 2, 2016 9:29 AM

That's another possibility. There is a lot of room for different plot devices with that concept. Ryder's ship might have been one of many sent by various organizations hoping to flee the Reapers.

You guys are fucking crazy. ME combat is good and got significantly better with each iteration. If you don't like it, then you've never played a Vanguard in ME2 or ME3, and if you still don't like it you're broken they straight-up have a "kid gloves easy-peasy RPG mode FOR BABIES" difficulty.

Woah woah woah, I enjoy the combat in Mass Effect, I wasn't saying that's bad. i just think they're so good at dialogue and characters that they could base a game entirely on that and it would still be brilliant. games have so much more potential than just being guns + other stuff like so many are.

Yeah but like the salarian GameStop employee said in MEb2]b (and I'm paraphrasing), why bitch about exciting gunplay in addition to the epic storyline and awesome characters??

There's room for both types of game. I need to play Life is Strange, it sounds like that's pretty close to wht I'd love to see Bioware take a shot at - character and dialog focused.

After my first play through of 1 and 2 that was my opinion. However on second+ playthrough 1 is superior in every way. You just sorta need that first run through to get used to all of the combat mechanics. 2 seems like an overly-simplified and generally much less RPGish type combat.
